dress-design-style-shake.pngWhenever I go dress shopping, I’m always thinking of ways to alter the dresses I find (“If only it were a half inch longer…and a different color…and didn’t have that darn bow…). Today I found a way to create the perfect dress and have it made-to-order, all in 10 days. A British company, StyleShake, lets users design their dresses using a simple online program. Choose your fabric, your dress shape, your sleeve length, etc. and they’ll do the sewing. You can also send in your measurements to ensure a perfect fit. Read more

Spring is almost here. If you’re like me, you’re more than ready to box away your winter coats and add a little color to your wardrobe. Forget the serious gloomy tones – a splash of pink, yellow, green, or another bright selection can really add a little pick-me-up to your look. (Your springtime outfits need not look like Rainbow Bright; a little color goes a long way).

The 10 spring updates in this list can be added to your 25 essentials to make any number of outfits. Unlike the spring must-have lists found in some magazines, the items I’ve selected can be worn by pretty much anyone and will last for years to come. They’re classic, airy pieces that work well in any closet. (I won’t try to convince you to invest in the 2008 “peep toe boot” trend…promise). Read more

It’s 2x sales rewards at Ann Taylor this weekend. For every $100 you spend, you get two $50 sales rewards coupons. You can use each coupon for a minimum $100 purchase between March 23 and April 5.

In a nutshell: spend $200, get $300 worth of clothes. The rewards vouchers work for sales / clearance items but can’t be used with other coupons. (I tried that last season and was shot down…). If you buy online, you can also get 3-day shipping for $3.

The sale ends Sunday (March 16th).

“Show it all” isn’t the best policy when attending a church wedding or meeting your significant other’s parents for the first time. On some occasions, the classiest look is one that’s a bit more covered up.

Unfortunately, clothing designers don’t always seem to understand the need for beautiful yet conservative clothing. Plunging necklines and off-the shoulder dresses are the most common in formal wear. “Little black dresses” are often “very, very little black dresses.” Sometimes the only pieces that are modest look like flour sacks.

Fortunately, you don’t have to choose between modesty and gorgeous clothes. There are a several wardrobe pieces that will let you wear just about anything in any situation. (Well, maybe that leather miniskirt won’t make the cut…)

Shoes can be a rather expensive habit. A decent pair can cost upwards of $100. A designer pair can cost much more. When shopping for shoes I look for pairs that are stylish, can be worn with several outfits already hanging in my closet, and are relatively comfortable to wear. After overpaying for a rather large collection of shoes, I finally found a place where I can get these same styles at a significant discount. With helpful customer service and quick shipping, browsing their selection is my new favorite hobby.

Best Place to Buy Shoes: Amazon.com

At first I thought I’d never buy shoes online, but Amazon has a large selection and offers some incredible discounts over the course of a year.
