closet-charm-fit-card.jpgSizing is very strange. In Ann Taylor skirts I’m a zero; at the Gap I can fit a size 6. I’ve often measured myself when ordering clothes online or before shopping, but it’s hard to keep track of those numbers scribbled on a scrap of paper.

So, I’ve created a printable wallet size chart (and I’m going to share, of course). You can use it to keep track of your measurements, ensuring a perfect fit when you shop. It has spaces for you to write down your standard sizes and spots for you to record your actual measurements. Check a store’s sizing chart and you’ll know just what to get. Read more

At about 3 a.m. last night I finally finished the printable wardrobe basics shopping list. It’s a check-off list of 25 essential items that pretty much every woman needs. If you buy these basics, you’ll be able to make hundreds of different outfits. I have just about every item on the list (although, I’m still waiting for the opportunity to purchase the perfect trench coat…)

The second page is a list of 100 “style recipes” that you can use with your 25 basics. If you aren’t quite sure how to mix-and-match your 25 pieces, this will get you started.

The list is a compilation of advice from stylish women I know as well as the suggestions given in books such as Harpers Bazaar Great Style, In Style Instant Style, The Budget Fashionista, and The Pocket Stylist. Take a look - you probably already have a lot of these items in your closet.

Some people are born knowing what clothing items look fabulous together. For the rest of us, it’s a skill that takes a bit of practice. That’s why I created the free Wardrobe Planning Guide. It’s 22 pages of worksheets to help you design outfits from the clothes already in your closet. Set up your outfits in advance and you’ll always know just what to wear. You can use the worksheets to plan just a few “special occasion” outfits or you can put the entire book in a 3-ring binder and track all possibilities. It’s your choice.
